Types of Visitor Visas
First Working Holiday Visa
The First Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417) allows young adults to explore, travel and stay in Australia for up to 12 months while funding their travels through short-term work. Completing 3 months of work in specific industries can make you eligible for a second Working Holiday Visa. The visa is valid for 12 months from your entry date and allows multiple re-entries during this period.
Eligibility Criteria:
In order to be eligible to apply for this visa, individuals must:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old (or up to 35 years old for citizens of certain countries).
- Hold a valid passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction.
- Not bring dependent children along.
- Work in any job, though generally, you can work for the same employer for up to 6 months.
- Not study for more than 4 months (17 weeks) during your stay.
- Meet Australia's health and character requirements.
- Not owe any debts to the Australian government.
Second Working Holiday Visa
The Second Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417) allows individuals aged 18 to 30 (or 35 for certain countries) to return to Australia for an extended holiday while working. It provides an excellent opportunity for travellers to earn money during their stay, explore the country, and continue their trip. If you have previously held a Working Holiday visa, this is your chance to extend your Australian experience. You can apply from inside or outside Australia and can stay up to 12 months from the expiry date of your first visa or upon entry.
Eligibility Criteria:
In order to be eligible to apply for this visa, individuals must:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old (or up to 35 years old for citizens of certain countries).
- Have held or currently hold a First Working Holiday visa (subclass 417).
- Have completed 3 months of specified work on your First Working Holiday visa.
- Work for no more than 6 months with the same employer.
- Not study for more than 4 months (17 weeks).
- Not bring dependent children along.
- Meet Australia's health and character requirements.
- Not owe any debts to the Australian government.
Third Working Holiday Visa
The Third Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) allows individuals aged 18 to 30 (or 35 for some countries) who have previously held a Second Working Holiday visa to extend their stay in Australia for another 12 months. This visa offers the chance to continue short-term work, study for up to 4 months, and travel freely in and out of the country.
Eligibility Criteria:
In order to be eligible to apply for this visa, individuals must:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old (or up to 35 years old for citizens of certain countries).
- Hold or have held a Second Working Holiday visa (subclass 417).
- Have completed 6 months of specified subclass 417 work.
- Not work for the same employer for more than 6 months.
