Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)
The Electronic Travel Authority or ETA (Subclass 601) is a temporary visa that allows eligible passport holders to visit Australia for tourism, family visits, business purposes (such as attending conferences or negotiating contracts), or short-term study/training of up to 3 months. It is valid for 12 months with multiple entries, permitting a stay of up to 3 months per entry. This visa is not suitable for paid work or long-term stays.




Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Subclass 601 visa, you must:
- Hold a valid passport from one of the specified eligible countries (see list below).
- Intend to stay temporarily in Australia and comply with all visa conditions.
- Meet Australia's health and character requirements.
- Ensure any debts owed to the Australian Government are paid.
- Apply from outside Australia and remain outside until the visa is granted.
For longer stays or specialised purposes, consider other visa options like the Visitor Visa (Subclass 600).

If you hold more than one passport, you must declare all passports during your application. Australian citizens, including dual citizens, are not eligible for this visa.
