Types of Tourist Visas

Tourist Stream (Apply in Australia)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be in Australia when applying and when the decision is made
- Show genuine visitor intent and financial capability to support your stay.
- No work is allowed.
Business Visitor Stream
The Business Visitor stream of the Visitor visa (subclass 600) allows you to visit Australia for specific business purposes. With this visa, you can:
- Make general business or employment enquiries.
- Negotiate, enter into, or review business contracts.
- Attend conferences, trade fairs, or seminars without receiving payment.
- Participate in official government visits or undertake tourist activities.
However, this visa does not permit you to work for Australian businesses, provide services, or sell directly to the public.

- Depart Australia with your group before the visa expires.

Frequent Traveller Stream
The Frequent Traveller stream of the Visitor visa (subclass 600) is designed for citizens from the People’s Republic of China, Brunei, Cambodia, the Philippines, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam who frequently visit Australia for tourism or business activities. This visa allows you to travel to Australia as often as you like within the visa’s validity, with specific conditions on your stay duration.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries: People's Republic of China, Brunei, Cambodia, Philippines, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, or Timor Leste.
- Apply from outside Australia when lodging your application and when a decision is made.
- Be intending to visit for tourism, business visitor activities, or to visit family and friends.
- Meet health and character requirements.
- Ensure you comply with visa conditions, such as not staying more than 12 months in any 24-month period.
Sponsored Family Stream
The Sponsored Family stream of the Visitor visa (subclass 600) allows individuals to visit their family members in Australia. Sponsored by an Australian family member, this visa permits you to stay in Australia for tourism purposes, including seeing family or friends, going on a cruise, or any other non-business or non-medical reason. This visa also allows you to study or train for up to three months, though it is not intended for those whose primary purpose is study, in which case a student visa might be more appropriate.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You must be sponsored by an eligible family member living in Australia.
- You cannot work while holding this visa.
- Your primary reason for visiting Australia must be for tourism, visiting family or friends, or participating in a cruise.
